Academics

Dear Campus community:

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Roberto Sánchez has agreed to become the School Director for School 3: Arts and Humanities, effective immediately. Dr. Sánchez brings with him years of leadership experience as Chair of the Department of History, Philosophy, Religion, and Sociology; as Program Coordinator for the International Studies Programs that involves six programs; and as a key member of the Faculty Welfare Committee. He has previously served on the Faculty Senate and the Council on Undergraduate Education (CUE).

He replaces Dr. Arlene B. Kelly, ’77 & G-’92, who initially accepted the role of School Director. Dr. Kelly instead will be working on the Academic Affairs implementation team. She will work closely with Dr. Sánchez, both as chair of the Deaf Studies program in the School of Arts and Humanities, and to support him in this transition. Dr. Sánchez and Dr. Kelly were the only two names submitted to me for this School by Faculty Governance.

I am excited to work with Dr. Sánchez and the other School Directors as we start our soft launch of the five-school structure this fall.

Sincerely,

Dr. Khadijat Rashid
Interim Dean of the Faculty
