Ben and Renee Finkin, sweethearts since high school at the Lexington School for the Deaf in New York City, lived well into their 90s. They were advocates for progressive thought and civic involvement, and gave generously of their time and wealth to the causes they cared about. They served as president and secretary of the Hebrew Association of the Deaf in NYC for 20 years. Ben was a draftsman and owned his own business, but despite his success, he spoke often of his regret that he was never able to attend college. A lifelong student with an ardent love for learning about health, science, and government, he often presented talks at deaf conferences. In 2010, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Hebrew Association of the Deaf for his commitment to learning and sharing knowledge. The Ben and Renee Finkin Endowed Scholarship Fund is for any student based on need or merit as determined by the University. Please join us in giving to this fund.
