Course Overview

This two-week professional education training program is conducted in American Sign Language (ASL) and is specifically designed for deaf, deafblind, or hard-of-hearing community members using ASL who are interested in learning more about Community Health Workers (CHWs) and the core competencies. The program includes daily hands-on activities demonstrating how CHWs support communities, including health education to maintain our health, working with patients and families, and accessing resources. After the course, you will have learned to navigate healthcare systems effectively, build relationships among people and communities, and identify their needs in different ways.
