Course Overview

This course is designed for Deaf students to expand foundational interpreting skills and knowledge of the interpreting profession. This satisfies the training required for the Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) exam. Students who have successfully completed this course will have satisfied the 40 Hours/4.0 RID CEUs of Interpreter Training required to be eligible to take the CDI Knowledge Exam, including a minimum of eight hours of study of the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct, a minimum of eight hours of study of introduction to interpreting, a minimum of eight hours of study of the process of interpretation, as well as a minimum of sixteen hours of study of elective and relevant topics that satisfy the eligibility requirements of the CDI Knowledge Exam. The instructor will select these topics.
