Academics

1972: Gallaudet College establishes the College for Continuing Education (CCE) under the Division of Public Services and hires Dr. Thomas A. Mayes as Dean of CCE. The development of Gallaudet’s outreach programs are designed to serve the nation via community, continuing, professional and family education programs. Dr. Mayes eventually becomes Vice-President of the Division of Public Services and is instrumental in establishing the Gallaudet University Regional Centers (GURC), bringing the expertise of Gallaudet University out to the rest of the country.
