Robert Cartwright Jr., president of The Risk Management Society (RIMS), came to Kendall Green and gave a presentation to students of Gallaudet University’s risk management and insurance students on September 11.
In his presentation, Cartwright addressed topics such as cyberterrorism, autonomous vehicles, cryptocurrency/blockchain technology, mentoring, diversity, and inclusion.
Following his presentation, Cartwright spoke with many students one-on-one.
James Bruner, Maguire Academy of Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) executive director, in thanking Cartwright, mentioned how Gallaudet’s RMI students are embracing a future in this career field.
“Gallaudet’s RMI students were very engaging, curious, passionate, and hungry to be a part of the insurance and risk management industry,” said Bruner.
“Once they complete their internship in the insurance industry, they are changed forever. There is no better time to be part of this exciting profession.”
As Gallaudet’s RMI program continues to experience growth, Bruner sees the impact of having RIMS, a prestigious, international organization with thousands of members, supporting Gallaudet.
“RIMS will be such an important resource for Gallaudet’s RMI program,” said Bruner. “It is important to let others know about Gallaudet’s RMI program and the quality of the students.”
Cartwright, who assumed the role of RIMS president in January, is division manager of Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability for Bridgestone Retail Operations’ Northeast Region. He has served with RIMS for over 25 years, including 10 years on its Board of Directors. As stated on their website, RIMS advocates on behalf of risk professionals worldwide to Members of Congress federal agencies, state legislative and regulatory bodies, and international regulatory authorities.
