This year’s Homecoming was a blast! We had so much fun gathering, celebrating, and reminiscing with the Gallaudet community.

Just one week after the first-ever Deaf Way Film Festival, our campus was full of spirit as alumni from around the world returned to see their old stomping grounds.  Five members of the Class of 1960 showed that Buff and Blue spirit never gets old as they reunited for their 65th anniversary. The Class of 1975 celebrated their golden anniversary, and the Class of 2020 experienced their first walk in the parade.

Special events during Homecoming week included a site dedication for the Louise B. Miller Pathways and Gardens, memorializing the Gallaudet Eleven, and inducting eight more members into the Gallaudet University Athletics Hall of Fame.

Check out the photos below to relive the excitement.

Pep Rally

There’s nothing like Bison pride! The Field House came alive for our annual pep rally, as classes past and present gathered to show what Buff and Blue spirit is all about.

Class Parades

13 different classes walked in this year’s Class Parade, with the Class of 1975 receiving medals in honor of their 50th anniversary. It was amazing to see so many generations of Bison in one place!

Football Game

The Bison Football team faced Randolph-Macon College in the annual Homecoming football game. They were cheered on by an energetic crowd of supporters and the Gallaudet cheerleading squad.

Clerc Center

The Clerc Center, Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES), and Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) celebrated a fantastic Homecoming week. Students kicked things off with a spirited pep rally, competed in class challenges, embraced themed spirit days, and capped off the week cheering on their volleyball and football teams.

Site Dedication for Louise B. Miller Pathways and Gardens

Evon Black and the Center for Black Deaf Studies (CBDS) hosted a beautiful ceremony to celebrate the upcoming construction of the Louise B. Miller Pathways and Garden. In the audience were the family of Louise B. Miller, Gallaudet President Roberta Cordano, the Gallaudet Board of Directors, founding CBDS director Dr. Carolyn D. McCaskill, ’77, G-’79, & PhD ’05, and many more.

Deaf Bioastronauts Plaque Unveiling Ceremony

Schuchman Deaf Documentary Center honored 11 Deaf volunteers who served and contributed to spaceflight research in the 1950s and 1960s with the US Navy and NASA. The volunteers included Gallaudet alumni! In attendance were bioastronauts Barron Gulak, Harry Larson, and David Myers.
