The Kay Ho Lam ESL Endowment fund, established in the memory of Kay Ho Lam ’72, provides unrestricted support of the costs of students enrolled in the English Language Institute (ELI).
Kay graduated from Ying Wah Girls’ School in 1962, and clerked at Rediffusion TV in Hong Kong until 1968, when she moved to Washington D.C. to enroll at Gallaudet College. She learned American Sign Language on her way to completing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, followed by a Master’s degree in Counseling. In 1974, Kay returned to Hong Kong at the invitation of the Principal of the Hong Kong School for the Deaf, as the Director of Counseling. Kay would eventually return to the United States, and to Gallaudet University, as a research associate at the University’s Graduate Research Institute, retiring in 2013.
This endowment was established by members of Kay Ho Lam’s family, in appreciation of the opportunities Gallaudet University was able to provide Kay, and to assist in providing similar opportunities to Gallaudet ELI students in pursuit of their educational and career goals.
Please join us in giving to the Kay Ho Lam ESL Endowment Fund. Every gift makes a difference!
