We welcome international students from all over the globe! Come join a thriving community of degree-seeking students from over 30 countries! As an international student, you will have many opportunities in and out of the classroom, and you will be well-prepared for graduate studies or the workplace. Our international admissions counselor will be here to assist you throughout the application progress. If you have questions, please feel free to email International Admissions.
The application requirements for degree-seeking international students are:
*Official transcript(s) will be required following acceptance to the University. We accept both paper and electronic transcripts. If you have your transcript sent electronically, it should be sent to the admissions office. If you earned college credits during high school, please send in your college transcript(s) for transfer credit evaluation. Please ensure that the transcripts are translated into English before sending.
Gallaudet admits students based on superscores for both the ACT and SAT, which has been recognized as best practice. Research conducted by the ACT has confirmed that superscores are just as strong a predicator, if not stronger, of how students will perform at the collegiate level than other scoring methods. Superscoring takes the highest scores for each section across multiple SAT or ACT tests and section retests, resulting in a “super” composite score that will, in most cases, be higher than the composite score of any individual test taken. To learn more, visit the ACT website.
**Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are also offering, free of charge, two online assessments, the Degrees of Reading Power (DRP) and the Questar Mathematics Test that may be taken in lieu of the ACT or SAT. Students may sign up for these tests through the Gallaudet application portal after submitting their application.
International applicants do not qualify for financial aid or merit-based scholarships.
If you have a BA/BS degree and wish to pursue a more advanced degree, the Graduate School at Gallaudet University offers over 25 post-graduate programs at the certificate, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels. There are exciting opportunities to learn from faculty with rich expertise in their disciplines as well as multiple research centers generating new knowledge about deaf and hard of hearing populations. Courses are offered within an immersive, bilingual environment in a variety of delivery formats – face-to-face, hybrid and online.
