Becoming a Bison: Your Next Steps

Thousands of Bison are eagerly awaiting your arrival on campus. View the Enrollment Checklist below to ensure you’re ready to join us this fall.

Enrollment Checklist

You’ve earned admission to Gallaudet University, and you’re decided on becoming a Bison.

What’s next?

Visit your Admissions Portal to accept your offer of admission by filling out the Intent to Enroll form. It’s as simple as choosing YES on the drop down menu!

A $150 enrollment deposit is required to reserve your spot in the incoming class. This deposit is applied toward your first semester’s bill.

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the semester begins. Even if you think you’re not likely to qualify for need-based aid, it’s still a good idea to apply. This allows the Gallaudet University Financial Aid Office to award you a variety of aid, including scholarships and institutional grants. The FAFSA is also required for Vocational Rehabilitation benefits.

All Gallaudet students have an user account that grants access to student email, Blackboard (where you’ll find your class information and submit homework), and the Bison student portal. Activate your account today to get a head start on your housing application and other enrollment tasks.

Stay in the know by regularly logging in to your personalized Admissions Portal. In the weeks leading up to enrollment, you’ll be asked to share emergency contact information, submit final, official transcripts and provide proof of required immunization.

You’ll also be prompted to complete Business Registration and the other various pre-orientation steps you need to take before you officially become enrolled as a student at Gallaudet.

Orientation is just around the corner!  To ensure a smooth transition, make sure you check your Gallaudet email often and stay on top of required tasks, including important pre-enrollment tasks in Bison, checking out the Orientation schedule, uploading your photo for your new Gallaudet ID, and selecting your Apple Device. The sooner you take care of these tasks, the easier your move-in. Need help or have questions? Reach out to your Admissions Counselor!

Thanks to a partnership between Gallaudet and Apple Inc, all students can choose between the following:
  • 12.9″ iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard
  • M1 MacBook Air
Log in to Bison to make your selection!

We offer you the opportunity to upload your own picture for your student ID- and have them pre-printed and ready for pickup when you arrive! Log in to Bison to review photo requirements and upload a picture of yourself.

For August Bison Orientation arrivals, we strongly encourage checking this task off your list to help streamline the process and prevent disruption to your arrival.

International students experience a slightly different enrollment process than first-year domestic students. Your paperwork is a bit different, and you may have a special accommodation request, so we have an entire team dedicated to helping you enroll.
