Opportunities
Education programs prepare students to be professionals in their field interacting and communicating fluently with deaf and hard of hearing people and children with diverse backgrounds. Graduates will be prepared leaders and advocates actively engaging with the people of their community.
Our professors equip students through their expertise and passion for teaching and lead students through all the following.
- The art and craft of teaching, including the modeling of educational content, strategies, and performance assessment, student advisement, and curriculum building and revision.
- Using research and the dissemination of knowledge through publication and other creative endeavors.
- Displaying a commitment to service through a variety of activities at local, national, and international levels.
Peer Teaching
Our model for teaching is through a reflective method. Not only do we expect students and faculty to work–or reflect–off of each other, but from the very first courses, students will be presented with opportunities to engage in peer teaching during class. Through both individual and group work, this will give students a chance to reflect on their experiences and work.
