Overview
The School of Human Services and Sciences provides a dynamic learning environment committed to excellence in curriculum, research leadership, and workforce readiness.
Students engage in hands-on projects, professional mentorships, and internships that address real-world problems while immersed in a robust and highly diverse deaf culture. Graduates are prepared for careers in the fields of human services such as psychology, counseling, audiology, speech pathology or hearing, speech, and language sciences.
In advocating for systemic changes that promote equity, diversity and inclusion for all humans, the School of Human Services and Sciences has a threefold mission:
- Advance knowledge in human services, sciences, diversity and individual/collective well-being, through research, training, and professional practices.
- Prepare our students with a strong foundation in cultural awareness and knowledge as well as professional and linguistic skills necessary for advanced study and application of human development across the lifespan through interdisciplinary, multicultural, and social justice frameworks.
- Apply knowledge and skills to enhance the quality of life, well-being, and health of all persons, particularly those from traditionally under/unserved and marginalized communities.
