On Tuesday, October 15, President Cordano, along with three Kendall Demonstration Elementary School students, testified before the Committee on Government Operations of the Council of the District of Columbia in favor of a proposed bill to establish an Office on Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the District. The bill, designated B23-0147, was introduced in February by six of the 13 Councilmembers. Two other Councilmembers signed on as co-sponsors. Several other members of the local deaf community testified in writing and in person, including a number of Gallaudet alumni. We look forward to the Council’s decision.
