Students are encouraged to meet with the ELI Program Coordinator if they have any questions.
Below are descriptions of international workshops and activities.
This event, hosted by International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), offers a casual and comfortable environment in which people from other countries living in the USA and studying at Gallaudet University, as well as members of the campus community who are U.S. citizens, can gain mutual understanding of the many cultures represented on campus, learn about immigration issues, and meet new friends.
Students have the opportunity to ask questions, collaborate, socialize, share cultures, provide support, share ideas, listen, and have fun. This event serves to boost spirits, which benefits the greater campus community.
The new international students meet with the Office of International Affairs official who will review their passports and I-20 forms or DS2019 forms. The international students will fill out three agreement forms required for their F-1 or J-1 visas. When the paperwork is approved, the official will then update SEVIS to an active student status on behalf of the student.
The SEVIS Workshop is required for all international students. The F-1 and J-1 visa policies of Homeland Security and the Department of State are explained in depth.
