WHO: Gallaudet University, the world’s premiere liberal arts university for students who deaf and hard of hearing. Gallaudet was chartered in 1864 by President Abraham Lincoln and is located in Washington, D.C.
WHAT: Gallaudet’s Department of Education is hosting a two-day summit to examine new and emerging research and pedagogical approaches for teaching young deaf and hard of hearing children in a bilingual environment in which American Sign Language (ASL) and English bilingual methods are used.

The summit will provide participants, including teachers of deaf children, childcare providers, medical personnel, audiologists, and others, with opportunities to learn about and discuss the latest ASL/English bilingual research and how to apply it to current curricula and practices.
