On July 5, 2022, Congressman Mark Takano (D-CA) and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) introduced House Concurrent Resolution 96, recognizing the historical significance of the 70th anniversary of Miller v. Board of Education of District of Columbia. This case, brought by Louise B. Miller on behalf of her deaf children, ended the practice of sending Black Deaf students out of the District to be educated.
