GUCE Editor
Step-by-step guides for the Gallaudet Content Editing System, the editor at /guce_dash/.
The Gallaudet Content Editing System (GUCE) is the editor department web editors use
to maintain their pages, at /guce_dash/. It is not the WordPress
admin — it is a purpose-built front-end editor scoped to the offices and programs you
are responsible for.
The guides are numbered in the order they are meant to be read. If you are new, start at Edit Profile.
Writing and design help
The AI Assistant (Beta) in every GUCE editor can draft a section from your notes, rewrite text you select, turn your text into a designed component (an accordion, column cards, a call to action, statistics and more), check a page for clear writing, and suggest titles and excerpts. Always review what it writes before you save. See Use the AI Assistant.
Help people find your pages
Search & SEO, in the webpage editor, has two fields. The main keyphrase is the phrase you want the page found for on Google, with a checklist of where it appears on the page. The search keywords help the page come up in the Gallaudet website’s own search. See Search & SEO.
Accessibility while you edit
GUCE runs a WCAG 2.2 AA check every time you save with the status set to Publish. See Accessibility in the GUCE editor for what it checks and what to do when it finds something.
The other editors
- Digital Signage — the campus digital signage editor
- gu.live — the Gallaudet URL shortener
- Program editor instructions — CADE, Academic Bowl, BOTB, Orientation and the news posting guidelines
