Biographical Sketch
Marian (Stewart) Wenzel is the granddaughter of the late Charles R. Ely, faculty member and vice-president of Gallaudet College, and great-granddaughter of the late Charles W. Ely, principal of Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick. Marian Wenzel’s mother is Elizabeth (Ely) Stewart. The collection was passed on to her from her mother, Elizabeth, as she preserved the documents received from Gallaudet College after her father, Charles died.
Scope and Content
Familial papers fill this collection primarily. Some of the documents came from Gallaudet College after Charles R. Ely’s death.
