Course Overview

This course is designed to give the student exposure to the various models of expressive therapies used in direct clinical practice: yoga, dance/movement, art, poetry/bibliotherapy, psychodrama, and intermodal. Through reading, lecture, class discussion, case presentations, and role-play simulations, students will become familiar with various techniques used with children, adolescents, and adults in clinical practice. Students will discuss the applicability of social work theory in working with clients from diverse backgrounds including deaf and hard of hearing clients and those from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
