Gallaudet alumni Daniel Durant, E-’15 and Anjel Piñero, ’22 will perform at Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, according to an announcement from the National Association of the Deaf, LOVE SIGN, and the National Football League.
Durant will perform The Star-Spangled Banner, Piñero will sign America the Beautiful, and Shaheem Sanchez will sign Lift Every Voice and Sing. They will accompany Reba McEntire, Post Malone, and Andra Day, respectively. Eight-time Grammy winner Usher will headline the halftime show, while Sanchez will perform the ASL halftime show.
According to a news release on the NAD website, “[t]he ASL pre-game performances and the ASL Halftime show will be produced in partnership with Alexis Kashar of LOVE SIGN and Howard Rosenblum of the NAD.” The pre-game and halftime ASL performances will be shown at this free, no-login-required link.
Super Bowl LVIII will be broadcast on CBS, with an “alternative broadcast” on Nickelodeon. It will be streamed on Paramount. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Congratulations to Daniel, Anjel, and Shaheem, and thank you to the NAD, LOVE SIGN, and the NFL for making this possible!
