Tanya Amy Perry, ’08 & G-’10, a Student Support Advisor at the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, passed away on January 30. She was 47 years old.  

Perry had worked with elementary and middle school students at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School since 2022. She previously worked as a Residential Advisor at Gallaudet University, and at the Delaware and Maryland Schools for the Deaf.

Perry was a Wisconsin native and a 1994 graduate of Wisconsin School for the Deaf. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work at Gallaudet University. 

Perry is survived by her daughter, Neva Whittaker, a senior at Maryland School for the Deaf; her mother, Janet Perry; two sisters, Tamara Perry Fuerst (Paul Fuerst) and Tracy Perry Reins, E-’99 (Albert Reins, ’19); and four nieces and nephews. Her nephew, Gunnar Reins, is a current Gallaudet University student.  

Memorial service arrangements are pending. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family via the Stauffer Funeral Homes website
