In accepting his award, Panasuik said that he had been a programmer for many years, and saw gaps in educational tools for deaf learners, including those who were new to North America. Since then, he has dedicated his life’s work to providing adult basic education to deaf individuals so they can grow and thrive. Panasuik also thanked his staff and family for their support.

According to its mission statement, S5 DLI is an organization that provides support and resources for the field of education using sign language as instructional method.

S5 DLI works across Canada. It held a conference, “Light the Fuse,” January 30-February 1, and has offered courses in literacy, curriculum, and assessment and webinars on current issues in education.

Education 2.0 states that its goal is to “bring the global education community together to facilitate knowledge sharing and to look for solutions to issues faced in education transmittal in this day and age.” It holds two conferences annually, in Las Vegas and Dubai.

Congratulations, Jeff!
