Thanks to all who attended the CODA screenings on Wednesday, August 18 at Angelika Pop-up at Union Market. This screening was hosted by Gallaudet University and Apple TV+.

CODA is a coming-of-age film. Seventeen-year-old Ruby (Emilia Jones) is the sole hearing member of a deaf family—a CODA (child of deaf adults). When she discovers a passion for singing, Ruby must choose between the obligations she feels to her family and the pursuit of her own dreams. The film features deaf talent Daniel Durant, Troy Kotsur, and Marlee Matlin.

Free popcorn and jelly beans were handed out at the event. After the film, audience members mingled inside and outside the artistic Angelika Pop-Up movie theater to discuss their thoughts on the movie. It was an enjoyable time for our community to join together and share this historic moment in deaf representation in the media!
If you were not able to attend either screening, never fear! You still have the opportunity to watch CODA on Apple TV+.
