Gallaudet University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Title IV approved institution.

The Gallaudet Department of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) on the undergraduate and graduate levels. CSWE’s Commission on Accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in the United States and its territories.

In compliance with the U.S. Department of Education and the District of Columbia Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) requirements for participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA), the University provides information pertaining to this program and social worker licensure within each of the U.S. states and territories.

The MSW in Social Work program is designed to meet the educational requirements of social work licensure in the District of Columbia as a service provider in various settings, i.e. schools, community-based agencies, and government institutions.

Successful completion of the MSW Social Work program at Gallaudet University meets the requirements for certification in social work by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
