Gallaudet receives NSF funding to emphasize accessibility during international conference

Gallaudet University has been awarded a one-year grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support full access at an upcoming international conference. The project title is “Conference: Creating an accessible conference to support inclusive research in Mathematical Cognition and Learning.” Dr. Ilaria Berteletti of the Ph.D. Program in Educational Neuroscience Program is principal investigator, and Dr. Rachel Pizzie, also of the PEN program, is co-principal investigator.

Faculty and students help kids play in ASL at Camp Discovery

When Professor Dorothy Hamburg founded the Children’s Instructional Summer Camp at Gallaudet in the 1950s, it was one of the first camps in the world for deaf and hard of hearing children. Flash forward 70 years and it is still going as Camp Discovery! Camp Discovery  remains a crucial option for families looking for summer programs in American Sign Language (ASL), according to camp director Vanessa Arp. This summer, there will be two sessions: July 1-12 (for ages 4-12) and July 15-26 (for ages 4-10).
