Directed by Assistant Professor Dr. Geoffrey Whitebread, Gallaudet's Master of Public Administration Program has thrived, and now serves 50 students. About 60 percent of them are already professionals working in the field, while the other 40 percent are recent college graduates looking to launch their careers. This mix has made it important to build in flexibility, Whitebread notes, which is why the program offers both on-campus and fully online options and holds classes in the evenings, allowing students to balance the course work with jobs and family responsibilities. “It’s growing and growing fast because it meets students where they are,” says Lecturer Sean Maiwald, ’16.

Kaj Kraus, a graduate student in Linguistics working with advisor Dr. Deanna Gagne, has just received a $14,608 award from the National Science Foundation through its NSF 20-538: Linguistics Program – Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants (Ling-DDRI) Program. Gallaudet University has been awarded a one-year grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support full access at an upcoming international conference. The project title is “Conference: Creating an accessible conference to support inclusive research in Mathematical Cognition and Learning.” Dr. Ilaria Berteletti of the Ph.D. Program in Educational Neuroscience Program is principal investigator, and Dr. Rachel Pizzie, also of the PEN program, is co-principal investigator.
