Introducing Tabitha Jacques, Gallaudet’s new Director...
The Office of the Chief Operating Officer is pleased to announce that Tabitha Jacques has taken on the important new role of Director of Placemaking, effective February 2022. In this role, Tabitha will oversee Creativity Way (formerly known as the Sixth Street project) and other programming that bridge the Gallaudet University and District of Columbia communities.
Jacques, originally from Baton Rouge, La., was the director of the Joseph F. and Helen C. Dyer Arts Center at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, Rochester Institute of Technology for seven years. Before that, she worked as an exhibit curator for the Gallaudet University Museum Project and was a special projects coordinator for the National Postal Museum at the Smithsonian Institution.
She earned a Master of Arts in Art History and Museum Studies from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Gallaudet University. In 2018, Jacques was selected as a 2018 Forty Under 40 honoree by the Rochester Business Journal, and in 2019, she received the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from Gallaudet University Alumni Association.
In the coming weeks, Jacques and the COO office will be sharing exciting updates about Creativity Way.
