Academics

Dear campus community:

I am pleased to announce that Gallaudet University and the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center will be closed on Thursday, December 24, and will remain closed until Monday, January 4, 2021.

The addition of December 24 to winter break is to recognize and give thanks and appreciation to everyone who has been working hard to support our campus community during the fall semester, and to prepare for the upcoming spring semester. You have gone above and beyond to ensure that our students were well-served, and that we all remained safe.

We have asked our leadership to allow our teams to slow down and begin to “unplug” for the next two weeks. We know that some departments have priorities that they must meet. Nevertheless, if you are able to prioritize tasks into the new year and take time off, please plan to do so. In particular, please reschedule or cancel non-essential meetings and activities for the week of December 21.

Warmest wishes for a restful winter break. Please remain safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Dominic N. Lacy
Chief Operating Officer
