Joshua Josa, G-’15, an Inclusive Education Specialist with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is the winner of the 2022 People’s Choice Award of the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal, awarded by the Partnership for Public Service.
In addition to his work with USAID, Josh is a passionate advocate for deaf leadership in international development, and has also been extremely active in supporting international development studies at Gallaudet. He has served as an adjunct instructor with the International Development Master of Arts (IDMA) program, and was a panelist in the inaugural annual Deaf Leadership in International Development panel, as well as the fourth annual panel, which focused on Disability Inclusive Development. He has also been a professional mentor for IDMA students, and has consulted with IDMA faculty and faculty from other university programs–including Education and Linguistics–to advance international education projects; sharing internship and professional opportunities with university partners.
