More than 200 students and community members attended the second annual Go Global Fair on Nov. 15, 2019, to learn about scholarships, study-abroad programs, internships, and jobs with an international component or focus.
The fair drew organizations including Chemonics, World Vision, Discovering Deaf Worlds, CIEE, Amideast, Gilman Scholarship, Fulbright Scholarship, Critical Language Scholarship, and the Siena School of Italy. Several Gallaudet departments, such as World Languages and Cultures and the International Development M.A. Program, also participated. The official Fulbright Scholarship social media team was present, and throughout the day, the Fulbright Instagram account featured the Go Global Fair.
A group of international students taught signs from their native sign languages in the marketplace throughout the afternoon. In another session, first-year students from the IDMA program discussed audism and accessibility issues.
The fair was organized by Education Abroad and supported by International Affairs staff. A large number of interpreters were needed, but the demand was met, thanks to the help of Gallaudet Interpreting Service and students in the B.A. in Interpreting Program.
The Go Global Fair is expected to continue as an annual event as more opportunities become available to Gallaudet students.
