The Gallaudet University COVID-19 leadership team is regularly monitoring trends with COVID-19 cases on campus and in the community. If a significant spike or outbreak occurs, increased health and safety measures are ready for implementation.
If you test positive for Covid-19, please follow the CDC recommendations regarding isolation.
What are the recommendations if you are sick with a respiratory virus?
- Isolate until at least 24 hours after you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medication and your overall symptoms are improving
- Additional precautions for 5 days after isolation:
- taking more steps for cleaner air – improving ventilation, using an air filter
- enhancing hygiene practices
- wearing a well-fitting mask, like a KN95 or N95 mask
- keeping a distance from others
- testing for respiratory viruses can lower the chance of spreading respiratory viruses to others
Remember that getting your influenza and Covid-19 vaccines is the best way to protect yourself against respiratory viruses!
