Gallaudet University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Title IV approved institution.

In compliance with the U.S. Department of Education and the District of Columbia Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) requirements for participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA), Gallaudet University provides information pertaining to this program and clinical mental health counselor licensure within each of the U.S. states and territories.

This program is designed to meet the educational requirements for clinical mental health counseling licensure in the District of Columbia.

If you intend to secure licensure outside of Washington, D.C., review the professional licensure requirements for the state or territory of interest from the list below. This will help you determine whether Gallaudet has obtained confirmation from the state or territory to formally identify whether the Gallaudet M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program meets or  does not meet the educational requirements for licensure.

The program is aligned with the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) standards and will seek accreditation as soon as we are eligible. Applicants should be aware that Gallaudet has regional accreditation as a university. While program accreditation is optional, we value program accreditation and intend to pursue it as soon as possible.

Additionally, since state and territory regulations can change, should you pursue the Gallaudet University program, we recommend that you regularly check licensure requirements throughout your studies to ensure ongoing eligibility.
