Three Bison Named NEAC Student Athletes...
The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s swimming for the period ending January 22, 2012. Three Gallaudet University Bison are featured: Tony Tatum, James McGowan, and Alexandra Polivanchuk.
Senior Tony Tatum was selected for his outstanding all-around effort for the Gallaudet University Men’s Basketball team. In two conference contests last week, the guard posted averages of 15 points, 12.5 rebounds, five assists, and three steals per game while shooting 57 percent (12-for-21) from the field and 75 percent (6-for-8) from the free-throw line. Senior James McGowan was selected for his strong performance on the Gallaudet University Bison Men’s Swimming team. McGowan had a great day in the pool during Gallaudet’s Senior Day in the team’s final home meet of the season Saturday, as he was a part of the 200-yard medley relay team that posted a first place finish in a school-record time of 1:48:37, which broke the former mark set in the 2008 season that McGowan was also a part of as a freshman. Freshman Alexandra Polivanchuk was selected for her record breaking performance for the Gallaudet University Women’s Swimming team. Polivanchuk made her debut for the Bison during Saturday’s dual against Hood College and immediately made her presence known, taking first place in the 100-yard IM with a school-record time of 1:04:69.
