The Gallaudet University football team won the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) championship last Saturday, defeating Alfred State College 36-22. The Bison concluded the regular season 7-2, with a 5-1 record in the ECFC.

“I am so proud of this team for what they have been able to accomplish this season. It feels great to bring the ECFC championship back to Gallaudet University,” said Gallaudet coach Chuck Goldstein. “Thank you to our administration, [Athletic] department, and fans for supporting us throughout the season. We are excited to be back in the NCAA tournament and look forward to what’s ahead.”

This is Gallaudet’s second ECFC championship; they also won in 2013. “Selection Sunday” is Sunday, November 13; at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on ncaa.com, the Bison will learn who they will play next Saturday, November 19 in the first round of the 32-team NCAA Division III playoffs.

Both the team and its individual players have received multiple recognitions this fall; visit the Gallaudet Athletics website to read about these awards. There has already been extensive media coverage, including features on D3football.com and Noontime Sports, and more is expected.

Onward, mighty Bison! #GUBison
