Our self-directed majors are perfect for independent and curious thinkers.
The experience of students in our Self-Directed majors are as unique as their course selections. Students interested in the program may apply in the second semester of their sophomore year after completing two years of general education courses.
*This program requires students to complete a proposal process to be accepted into this path of study. This application includes a full course plan with 30-45 credit hours, at least 50% distribution of 300 and 400 level classes, an essay clearly stating the student’s goals and justification for their decision to study as a Self-Directed major, and finally interviewing with the Chair of the Self-Directed Major Committee. Once in the program, students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA while faculty advisors monitor their progress and quality of work.
