Our day was a little bit of everything.

At Gallaudet’s Washburn Art Center (WAC), we celebrated an awesome Senior Exhibition, celebrating our graduating artists’ creativity. It’s called “A Lil Bit of Everything,” because it shows off all sorts of talent in art, film, and graphic design, including some really unique, bold, and creative work.

Our work explores different ideas and styles, mixing influences, techniques, and stories. Every piece shows off individuality and innovation. We thank our professors, Scott Carollo, and Mava Vazquez, for all their support of us. “Throughout this year, the seniors have created a new body of work that is refined, intentional, and personal, built to define their portfolios and carry them into the next stage of their careers,” said Carollo.

As a student artist, I shared my own work using painting and storytelling to reflect a personal and meaningful experience. Drawing on my experience learning taekwondo as a child from my aunt, I created a series of acrylic paintings on canvas. I wanted to share the lesson that I felt at the time: that I could do anything. I want others to know that they can be anyone they want to be. Author pictured at left. A new chapter

This senior exhibition is bittersweet because it marks a transition from Gallaudet’s Art and Media Design program to a new Art + Visual Communication Design program, launching this fall. The next senior exhibit will return in Spring 2030.

“For years, Art and Media Design shaped hundreds of Deaf artists and designers, each carrying their vision into diverse careers rooted in language, culture, and visual expression. At the Washburn Art Center, these last seniors present not just their work, but a legacy of growth, resilience, and community,” said Carollo.

Experience this inspiring collection of student creativity at Washburn Art Center until May 15. Students have already sold several of their paintings, but some are still for sale.
