Thousands of prospective students, parents, professionals, school groups, American Sign Language classes, and others visit Gallaudet University annually. As the world’s only university designed for deaf and hard of hearing students, Gallaudet attracts students and visitors from throughout the United States and worldwide.
Visiting our beautiful campus, also known as Kendall Green, is the best way to learn about our exceptional academic programs and to see how we blend history and innovation. We invite you to Gallaudet University to see what life is like on campus.
You may also explore our campus on your own with our self-guided tour brochure if your preferred tour date is unavailable. The brochures are available at the Maguire Welcome Center. Stop by. We’d love to meet you!
All visitors must comply with University safety protocols while on campus: wearing a mask and social distancing per current university guidance.
We are excited to redesign our tours for the academic year 2022-2023. We welcome prospective students and their families, American Sign Language (ASL) classes, and other visitors and have created three different event types for each of the above groups.
All guided campus tours are offered daily four times throughout the day: 9:15 am, 11:15 am, 1:15 pm, and 3:15 pm, except for weekends and holidays. Tours begin at the Maguire Welcome Center in the Edward Miner Gallaudet Memorial Building (EMG). Each tour lasts approximately an hour to an hour and a half. Student Ambassadors conduct American Sign Language (ASL) tours, and we will provide voice interpreters for visitors who do not sign.
Student ambassadors provide general information about Gallaudet and its academic programs, residential and commuter life, and extensive curricular and co-curricular activities. The prospective student looking to learn more about the admissions process will have the opportunity to meet with an admissions counselor before the tour begins.
Individuals or groups with less than 20 visitors can sign up for any group tours offered during the week. However, tours for ASL and Deaf Studies classes with larger groups of 20 or more are provided only on Fridays at 9:15 am, 11:15 am, and 1:15 pm. For these larger groups, we will split visitors into groups of 20. During this tour, you’ll discover what Deaf Space, Deaf Culture, and rich history are at Gallaudet University. Admissions counselors will be available to meet with students if interested.
This tour is offered for general visitors, such as dignitaries, alumni, or visitors to DC and Gallaudet.
If you cannot visit Gallaudet in person, feel free to virtually explore Gallaudet’s 99 acres from the comfort of your home.
