Current Gallaudet student Mauricio Orozco is featured in the video above titled “Watershed Stewardship in Action: Deaf Students on the Estuary”. Orozco narrates his journey, from an early fascination with plants to his current interest in environmental science, and describes his experience conducting research on Chesapeake Bay with his fellow biology majors. He cites Dina Rae Padden, ’98 & G-’06, and Dr. Caroline Solomon as two of his inspirations. Orozco, along with Dr. Solomon, is attending the virtual Ecology Society of America conference this week.
Alumnus Carey Ballard, ’19, produced the seven-minute video, one of four in a series under the auspices of the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Massachusetts. All four videos feature deaf scientists, and are available at https://www.youtube.com/user/WaquoitBayReserve.
