Marina Dzougoutov

Marina Dzougoutov’s research focus is in the areas of deaf cinema, film history, and mass communications. She is particularly interested in how deaf people receive information from and interact with various forms of social media. Born deaf and originally from Russia, she has mastered four languages — Russian, Russian Sign Language, English, and American Sign Language. Her M.F.A in film and electronic media is from American University, and she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in media and communication studies from the European Graduate School in Switzerland.
