About

I am Gustavo Navarrete-Guastella, staff interpreter at Gallaudet Interpreting Service. I am of Cuban heritage and originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I have Bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester in American Sign Language and International Relations and a Master of Arts degree in Interpretation from Gallaudet University. I have experience working in a variety of settings and specialize in trilingual interpreting of ASL/Spanish/English. I have conducted research on and specialize in understanding the trilingual interpreting process and the unique multicultural/multilinguistic aspect of this area of interpreting. I have been at Gallaudet for 9 years now, the last 5 as a staff interpreter. My favorite interpreting settings are subjects around social and racial justice, linguistics and international conference interpreting.

I spend most of my time binging the Great British Bake Off, spoiling my eccentric dog, Andy and traveling the world.
