About

Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities in 2013. During her undergraduate studies, she began learning American Sign Language (ASL) and volunteered at a school for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. These experiences inspired her to pursue a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Gallaudet University, where she specialized in serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. She graduated from Gallaudet in 2015 and returned in 2026 as a Clinical Educator in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology.

Prior to returning to Gallaudet, Emily spent more than a decade working in a private practice in Washington, DC, where she provided speech-language services across a variety of pediatric settings, including clinics, homes, daycares, and schools. In addition to direct clinical care, she gained experience in clinical supervision and practice management.

Emily has extensive experience working within the DC Early Intervention Program, providing speech-language and hearing services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing infants, toddlers, and their families. She is particularly skilled in the family coaching model, partnering with caregivers to build confidence and integrate communication strategies into everyday routines. Her clinical expertise also includes working with children with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, other developmental disabilities, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and expressive and receptive language disorders.

Emily is passionate about supporting children and their families through collaborative, family-centered care. Her professional philosophy emphasizes empowering caregivers with the knowledge, advocacy skills, and resources they need to foster their loved one's communication, participation, and success across all environments.
