Noises Off, the classic farce by the Tony Award-winning author Michael Frayn, will keep audiences laughing as the fall theatre production at Gallaudet. The show, under the direction of student James Caverly, runs from Thursday, November 18, to Sunday, November 21.
This show is not one play but two: simultaneously a traditional sex farce, Nothing On, and the story of the backstage drama that develops during the show’s final rehearsal and tour. The two begin to interlock as the characters make their exits from Nothing On only to find themselves making entrances into the even worse nightmare behind the scenes.
In the end, at the disastrous final performance, the two plots can be kept separate no longer, and coalesce into a single collective nervous breakdown.
Appropriate for patrons 17 years old and up–children under the age of 15 years will not be permitted in the theatre (due to language, partial nudity, and mature subject matter).
Performances are November 18-21 in Elstad Auditorium, on the Gallaudet University campus at 800 Florida Avenue, NE, Washington, D.C. 20002. Free, on-campus parking is available. This production runs 2.5 hours with two 10-minute intermissions.
