This report was prepared in 2011 for Dr. Angela McCaskill, the University’s Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion at the time, in order to inform Gallaudet’s efforts to promote and sustain an ethno-racially diverse undergraduate student body.
Specifically, it discusses the diversity of applicants to the University and persisting students from Gallaudet’s freshman class of 2010-2011 in reference to the larger population of deaf and hard of hearing students enrolled in American high schools in 2009-2010, from which applicants to the freshman class were drawn. It discusses and analyzes Gallaudet enrollment patterns to identify possible strategies for increasing ethnoracial representation.
The presentation offers an overview of the analysis and suggests avenues of future research, as well as steps to encourage further diversity.
