MSSD Residence Hall Pre-Design
Email Us
The Clerc Center and Campus Design and Planning are currently working with Cox Graae + Spack Architects to prepare a Pre-Design document for a new student residence hall for the Model Secondary School for the Deaf. This early feasibility study has been undertaken to support efforts to secure federal funding for the much-needed residence hall.
The new building would provide approximately 150 student beds and apartments for dorm counselors to replace the residence halls demolished as a part of the recently completed site stabilization project and the aging girl’s residence hall remaining on the MSSD site. The new residence hall is envisioned as a vibrant residential community that offers its student residents a home-away-from-home combined with a host of learning and social spaces that facilitate MSSD’s rich mix of after-school programs.
The new residence hall would house boys and girls in separate wings connected to a central shared space for the after-school amenities. The centralized plan will enhance operational efficiencies and security while encouraging social interaction among students.
