For the first time in Gallaudet University history, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will take part in postseason play. In fact, in their first year in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), both squads compiled two of the most successful seasons in Gallaudet history: the men set the new program season wins record, while the women tied theirs. As a result, the men, who finished with 17-10 on the season, will participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Region championship, while the women, who finished 24-3, will play in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The men’s basketball team will open their tournament on March 2 just miles from Kendall Green. The sixth-seeded Bison are slated to take on former Capital Athletic Conference foe and third-seeded team from Catholic University (19-8). The men’s basketball team finished their regular season with a hair-thin 96-91 overtime loss to rival Penn State-Harrisburg in the semifinal round of the NEAC tournament on February 26. They received their ECAC South Region championship bid on February 28.

The women’s basketball team will face off against Juniata College (21-6) on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center in Huntington, Penn. The winner of the Gallaudet-Juniata game will face the winner between Greensboro College (26-2) and Saint Vincent College (24-4) the following day in the second round. The Bison finished their season with another close 50-46 game in the NEAC tournament final against Keuka College in New York, with whom they shared the regular season co-championship.
