Who We Are:

• A humanities-based research center that produces grant-funded projects that highlight the Deaf community’s contributions to our community and nation as a whole. 

• We collaborate with different organizations to host screenings of documentary films that spotlight our community’s experiences and accomplishments in order to educate, engage, and inspire both the Gallaudet community and the general public.

• With your support, we can continue to document and share stories and disseminate this knowledge through different products.

Our Mission: Teach, Do, Share

• We teach – or build the networks to teach – students how to create documentary films, develop exhibitions or engage in narrative writing.

• We do documentary work on the Deaf experience. This includes our series of ongoing projects, like our Deaf in Motion documentary or our Archiving Alumni project, among others.

• We share documentary work with the campus and external constituencies. We host several screenings and events each semester. We have received funding from organizations including Humanities DC and major federal grants from the National Science Foundation and National Endowment for the Humanities.
