Campus Tours for Visitors

Explore Gallaudet University through themed campus tours offered by the Office of Arts, Culture, and Experience (ACE) and led by ACE Ambassadors. Discover Gallaudet’s Deaf arts, culture, history, language, and community through the people, places, and stories that have shaped the University and its global impact. Tours meet at the Peikoff Alumni House (“Ole Jim”), Gallaudet’s front porch for welcoming visitors.

Whether you’re an alumnus, community member, international visitor, donor, ASL student, educator, or first-time guest, our tours offer a unique way to experience Gallaudet beyond a traditional campus visit.

Guided Tours

Choose from three guided tours, each offering a different way to experience Gallaudet’s history, culture, art, and community:

• Gallaudet History Tour — Discover the people, places, and events that have shaped Gallaudet’s history and the Deaf community. Gallaudet
• Art Walk — Explore Gallaudet’s unique collection of public art and learn about the artists and stories behind the works.
• House One Tour — Visit House One, Gallaudet University’s historic presidential residence, and discover the people, stories, and moments that have shaped the University and Deaf community for more than 150 years.

Tour Details

• Group Size: Tours accommodate up to 25 visitors per group. The final number of visitors can be confirmed after booking. Groups of 30 or more visitors receive 20% off the tour fee. Please contact Click to reveal email before registering to receive the discounted rate.
• Language: Tours are conducted in American Sign Language (ASL). Voice interpreters are available upon request. Please submit your tour request at least two weeks in advance if you need a voice interpreter.
• Fee: $5 per person. Tours are free for GUAA members. The fee does not apply to self-guided visits.
• Payment: A payment link will be sent after your tour is booked. Payment must be completed within five days to confirm your tour.
• Meeting Location: Tours meet at the Peikoff Alumni House (“Ole Jim”), Gallaudet’s front porch for welcoming visitors.
• Duration: 45–60 minutes

Self-Guided Experience

Visitors are welcome to explore the National Deaf Life Museum and the Washburn Arts Center’s Linda K. Jordan Gallery exhibitions (open Monday-Friday, 10:00 am-4:00 pm) and most outdoor areas of the campus at their own pace.

Please be respectful of ongoing classes and avoid entering classrooms during instruction. Residence halls are not open to visitors.

Prospective Students

Prospective students and families should visit the Admissions Office at the Maguire Welcome Center or request an Admissions tour.

Parking

Visitor parking is available in the 6th Street Parking Lot. Additional parking areas are marked with a “P” on the campus map.

When you register for a guided tour, you will receive a parking permit.
