Course Overview
This course introduces students to the philosophy, principles, and practices of recreational programming. Emphasis is placed on understanding the foundations of recreation and leisure services, with a strong focus on program and event planning, implementation, and evaluation across a variety of settings, including campus recreation, community centers, outdoor programs, and sports organizations. Course content includes theories and methods related to leisure as the foundation for enhancing overall wellness, building coping strategies, and negotiating a balanced, fulfilling life. Students will gain hands-on experience by designing and delivering recreational events and activities, while also reflecting on their own recreation and leisure experiences to connect personal growth with professional practice.
