PER students use internships to gain experience in new fields — literally

Normally, when Gallaudet’s star runner Eric Gregory visits the track at another school, he is there to win a race. But for the past few months, he has been riding his bike or taking the Metro to The Catholic University of America multiple days a week for a different challenge: an internship. “I know my own way to teach,” he says. “But I realized I need to be open to new ideas.”

The past and future of shaking things up

The world needs more vibration art, says Lloyd May, a 4th-year Ph.D. candidate in Music Technology at Stanford University, who will be presenting his research on Friday, March 8, 12:00 - 1:30 p.m., in SAC 1011. “The form can be as simple as a box you put your hand on,” he says. It could also be something small, like a buzz from a watch, or something much larger, like a shaking sofa that moves your whole body. It could even be from a stuffed animal that you hug for a jolt. “Imagination is the only limit for these things,” he says.
