A death that requires an emergency response is most likely a death that was sudden, caused by an accident, or a homicide. As a general rule one should immediately call or page DPS. Crisis Leadership Team (CLT) members will be notified. The first University person on the scene should follow these procedures:

Keep other people from viewing the victim and the surroundings.
Do not allow access to the body, or to the area where the body was found, to anyone other than DPS or MPD Police and homicide detectives.
Do not attempt to move the body or try to identify the victim.
Do not touch or attempt to move any physical evidence in the surrounding area.
