Education
Roberto Sánchez is an Associate Professor of History and Chair in the Department of History, Philosophy, Religion, and Sociology (HPRS) and Program Coordinator of the International Studies Program. His research and publications have focused on the history of Afro-Peruvians in post-abolition Peru, and the African Diaspora and popular religiosity in Peru and Brazil. He has received scholarships/fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the Aspen Institute.Dr. Sánchez teaches courses on Race in the Americas, Revolution, and Social Movements in Latin America, and World History. As Program Coordinator for the International Studies Program (six academic programs) he has supervised internships in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. He has served on the Council on Undergraduate Education (CUE), Faculty Senate, and currently serves on the Faculty Welfare Committee.
